P.J. Allman Joins The Shark Sisters

Meet P.J. Allman, newest member of The Shark Sisters, a "jawsome" acoustic trio that continues to make waves on Florida's Gulf Coast.  In February 2020, P.J. will join Brenna Larson and Coleen Marren in the fun, sisterhood of multi-talented gal pals performing a mix of originals and classic folk, Americana, country and blues favorites. P.J. joins the trio as Beth Travers departs to focus on her solo career with the release of her new album.

P.J. brings a wealth of experience and musical talent to The Shark Sisters. A Nashville recording artist, accomplished vocalist, bass, drums and guitar player, P.J. has earned numerous awards and nominations from the Country Music Industry including the Country Single Award for “New Vocal Group” of 1983, and has opened for Ricky Skaggs, Tanya Tucker, Jim Glaser, Con Hunley, The Whites and others.  P.J. is best known as the former leader of Chantilly, an all-female band that busted the Billboard charts seven times in two years before they disbanded in 1984.

"Having grown up singing gospel music with my sisters, and later launching a successful all-female band" says P.J, "Joining the shark sisterhood will be a whole ocean of fun to me. I'm really excited about being a part of the trio!"

Critics call P.J. a lady with style, flash, charm and a talent that leaves audiences aware that whatever trail she makes up her mind to blaze...she will. So swimming with sharks should be a breeze for her!

Check out P.J. with The Shark Sisters at one of our next events.

Summer Shark Bites

Keep Calm! Summer is here and The Shark Sisters are too!  We are excited to share that we now have a regular schedule at one of our favorite spots, Mango Bistro in Englewood. Look for us there on the First Friday of every month.  We'll also be playing at the wonderful Vino Loco wine bar and we've added some dates at The Lighthouse Grille at Stump Pass, a beautiful place to watch the sunset, the water view and, of course, THE SHARK SISTERS!

Our dear Coleen Shark swims north for the summer so our duo (Beth & Brenna) will entertain you for the summer until Coleen returns.  As always, though, we will be welcoming guest artists and rising "Sharkettes" whenever we can. We love featuring new, young entertainers who deserve a break!

Check out our CALENDAR for our upcoming dates. Hope to see you soon!

Your chums,

The SHARK Sisters - Brenna, Beth & Coleen

A Shark by Any Other Name?

Why do we call ourselves "The Shark Sisters," you might ask? Well, our trio decided that the shark is our spirit animal. Sharks might be a little scary, but we believe life begins at the edge of your comfort zone. With our music, we hope to inspire ourselves and others to live boldly, to continue growing, to keep taking risks, while always keeping a sense of humor.

We also think it's fun to celebrate that we all now live near Venice, Florida, which is known as "The Shark Tooth Capital of the World." If you'd like to know about Venice and it's shark teeth claim to fame, CLICK HERE for a great article about how it came to be known as the shark tooth capital.

Have a swimmingly good week, and hope to see you soon!

We Can't KEEP CALM, it's Shark Sisters Week!

Okay, technically it's not Discovery Channel's Shark Week, but it is a special week for us as we are officially launching our new website, and putting some teeth into the launch of The Shark Sisters, our fun, acoustic trio of dynamic women based in Sarasota, Florida. We're chomping at the bit to share our music with you.

The Shark Sisters combines the talents and funny bones of Brenna Larson, Beth Travers, and Coleen Marren. Together, we are already starting to make waves and capture hearts with our eclectic mix of original and classic folk, Americana, country and blues. We've got a boatload of poignant and humorous songs to entertain you with, and our guitar, harmonica, mandolin, ukulele, and bass picking are sure to grab your heart (but not your leg).

Check out our calendar for upcoming performances. To keep updated, click here to join our mailing list, or LIKE us on Facebook.

Have a great week, and don't forget to be "jawsome." Hope to see you soon!
